  Interstate State Park, south of the city of St. Croix Falls. Located between County Road S and the Silver Brook Trail.

Habitat: The plant was observed in a small (less than 100 square meters) prairie opening in the middle of a mesic to dry mesic hardwood forest. Area is dominated by Andropogon gerardii and Sorghastrum nutans. Associates: Geum triflorum, Coreopsis palmata, Phlox pilosa, Hypericum perforatum, Lespedeza capitata, Amorpha canescens, Carex bicknellii.
