  Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest. Near Lost Lake. Between the parking lot of Lost Lake off of a Forest Service Road leading to a European marsh thistle control site.

Habitat: Northern mesic hardwood forest. Canopy consisting of Acer saccharum, Acer rubrum, Betula alleghaniensis, Tsuga canadensis, Ostrya virginiana, Tilia americana, and Prunus serotina. In some areas the lakebed is exposed for ca. 75-100 yards and many small bay. Eurasian/European marsh thistle is very common along the exposed lake bed due to the extremely low water levels. In the lakebed around lake the European marsh thistle is one of the dominant species of forbs.
