Habitat: Northern mesic hardwood forest. Canopy consisting of Acer saccharum, Acer rubrum, Betula alleghaniensis, Tsuga canadensis, Ostrya virginiana, Tilia americana, and Prunus serotina. The subcanopy is made up predominantly of Abies balsamea, Dirca palustris, Corylus americana, and Corylus cornuta. Partial to full shade.
