With Pinus banksiana seedlings and saplings (to about 2 m tall), stunted, shrubby Salix petiolaris and Salix discolor, Spiraea tomentosa, Populus tremuloides seedlings, low, nonflowering Calamagrostis canadensis, Euthamia graminifolia and Lycopus uniflorus, in a carpet of Carex scoparia and Dichanthelium acuminatum.
