| Habitat: | In thick muck bottom bays throughout where it grows in 0-2 meters of water. Common assoc.: (Ceratophyllum demersum) coontail, (Potamogeton pusillus) small pondweed, (Potamogeton crispus) curly-leaf pondweed, (Najas flexilis) bushy pondweed. Widely distributed but not common. Based on detritus, it was previously abundant in the southwest bay of upper lake, but is now almost entirely absent. Rare in lower lake. |
