Habitat: Muck bottom in 0-2 meters of water where it often forms dense canopies. Common assoc.: (Brasenia schreberi) watershield, (Nymphaea odorata) white water lily, (Pontederia cordata) pickerelweed.  Relatively common in most sheltered shoreline areas on north lake; less so in main lake.
