Status: Native
Plant: erect, perennial, 6"-36" tall forb with branched or creeping rhizomes
Flower: head 1/2"-1 1/3" wide with 10-13 yellow rays more than 1/4" long, bracts (phyllaries) with purple tips; inflorescence a cluster of several to many heads; blooms May-Aug.
Fruit:dry seed on fluffy pappus
Leaf:basal leaves long-stalked with a heart-shaped base, less than 1 1/2 times as long as wide; upper getting smaller, never clasping, often pinnately-lobed
Habitat: wet, moist; woods, forests, meadows, streambanks
