Plant: erect, perennial, 2'-5' tall forb
Flower: head 1"-2 1/2" wide with 13-21 yellow, 3-lobed, droopy, skirt-like rays 1/2"-1" long; yellow disk 1/3"-3/4" wide; inflorescence of several to many heads in branched clusters; blooms Aug.-Oct.
Fruit:4 -5-angled, dry seed with no fluffy pappus
Leaf:many, winged, dotted with glands, alternate, spreading outward
Habitat: full sun; moist to wet; meadows, shores, streambanks; in sandy, loamy soil
