Plant: erect, perennial, 4"-16" tall, hairy forb
Flower: pink to purplish, 5-parted, 1" long, petals longer than the sepals; inflorescence of several flowers, nodding when young; blooms April-June
Fruit:dry seeds at the ends of long, thread-like styles
Leaf:basal leaves 4"-8" long, pinnately-divided into 7-17 progressively larger leaflets; stem with a few small leaves
Habitat: full sun; dry to moderate moisture; prairies, woods; in sandy, loamy soil
