Plant: erect to arching, perennial, 6"-36" tall shrub with round stems
Flower: yellow to reddish, 5-parted, 1/2"-3/4" long, funnel-shaped, almost regular, inside hairy, 5 stamens barely longer than the petals; inflorescence a 3-7-flowered, compound-branched cluster (cyme); blooms June-July
Fruit:capsule
Leaf:mostly oblong with a pointed tip, finely toothed, opposite
Habitat: dry; woods, forests, cliffs; in rocky soil
