Flower: head greenish, 1/8" wide, almost stalkless; inflorescence dense, spike-like clusters; blooms Aug.-Oct.
Fruit:elliptical, dry seed
Leaf:alternate, not silvery, mostly hairless, feathery, cut almost to the mid-rib, lobes toothed leaf drawing
Habitat: disturbed sites, streambanks; in sandy soil
