Plant: erect, perennial, 1'-4' tall forb with many hairy stems
Flower: head 1/3"-1/2" long with white to cream disk flowers, no rays; inflorescence small, branched, flat-topped cluster at the ends of the branches; blooms Aug.-Oct.
Fruit:dry seed on bright-white, fluffy pappus
Leaf:toothed, underside dotted with glands
Habitat: full sun; dry to moderate moisture; prairies, woods; in limy, sandy, loamy, gravelly soil
