Status: Introduced - naturalized; ecologically invasive
Plant: erect, biennial, 1'-5' tall forb; stout, white taproot with a carrot odor
Flower: white, 5-parted; inflorescence a 2"-5" compound, flat, long-stalked, dense umbel often with 1 dark flower in the center; edge flowers enlarged and sometimes irregular; blooms June-Sept.
Fruit:dry, splitting into 2 seeds, - fruit:fruit drawing seed:seed drawing
Leaf:oblong, not clasping, feathery, repeatedly pinnately-divided into thin segments
Habitat: disturbed sites, roadsides
Notes: when in seed, inflorescence curls up into "bird nest"- like cluster
