Status: Native
Plant: erect, perennial, 8"-20" tall forb; fleshy, forked roots
Flower: greenish often tinged with purple, 6-parted, 1/3"-2/3" long, spur pouch-like; inflorescence a 2"-8" dense, spike-like cluster (raceme) of stalked flowers, the leaf-like bracts on the lower flowers longer than the flowers; blooms May-Aug.
Leaf:alternate; lowest only 1 or 2 small sheaths; the 3 or more main leaves oval to oblong, getting smaller toward the top
Habitat: moist; woods
