Status: Special Concern
Plant: erect, perennial forb 40"-80" tall
Flower: yellow, 5-parted, 3/4"-1 1/4" wide, petals slightly unequal, buds nodding; inflorescence several clusters (racemes) from the leaf axils
Fruit:pod with seeds about 2 times as wide as long; seeds plump, almost 2 times as long as wide
Leaf:pinnately-divided into usually 4-8 pairs of leaflets
Habitat: moist; open woods, streambanks
