Status: Native
Plant: perennial, submersed aquatic; stems branched; spreading rhizomes
Flower: green-brown, small, stout stalk; inflorescence dense cylindrical spike
Fruit:dry, flat oval
Leaf:alternate, entire, with prominent midvein; submersed linear-lance like; 3-7 veins, stemless; floating stalked, 11-19 vein; stipules free in leaf axils
Habitat: water about 3' deep; in firm sediment soil
