Status: Native
Plant: erect, perennial, 8"-16" tall forb, single stem with no bracts; fleshy, fat roots
Flower: whitish to greenish, 6-parted, 1" long, downward-pointed lips not parted or fringed; inflorescence a 6 1/2" spike-like cluster of 10-30 almost stalkless flowers; blooms July-July
Leaf:2, basal, elliptical, 1"-2" long by 3"-8" wide, clasping, shiny, lying completely flat on the ground
Habitat: moderate moisture; woods, forests; in rich soil
