Plant: matting perennial, 4"-12" tall forb
Flower: pale violet to white, 5-parted, 1/2"-3/4" wide, funnel-shaped, lobe tip notched 1/4-1/2 its length, tube narrow; inflorescence a branched cluster (cyme); blooms April-May
Leaf:mostly opposite, not divided; the main leaves 1/2"-1 1/2" long, stiff, sharp pointed
Habitat: dry; cliffs; in sandy soil
