Plant: perennial, woolly forb; from clone-forming rhizomes
Flower: head 1/2" long with white to pinkish disk flowers; inflorescence with heads in an open, branched cluster; blooms May-June
Fruit:dry seed on fluffy pappus
Leaf:basal on long stalks, up to 12" long, triangular with arrow to heart-shaped base, whitened beneath
Habitat: wet, cold forests and meadows
