Status: Introduced - adventive
Plant: erect, perennial, 3'-6' tall forb; stems hairy, stout
Flower: orange, 6-parted, 4" wide, petal-like tepals bending backward, purple dotted; inflorescence of several, stalked flowers in nodding cluster (raceme); blooms July-Aug.
Leaf:numerous, stalkless, all alternate, lance-like with pointed tips, clasping bases; with small black bulblets in upper axils
Habitat: roadsides, yards
