Because of technology changes and personnel changes at UWSP and the Wisconsin State Herbarium, the database of plant species housed at this site was merged with the database from the OLD WisFlora website to create a new Flora of Wisconsin website at Currently we are encouraging all Wisplant viewers to begin using the Flora of Wisconsin website as soon as possible. Status: Native
Plant: erect, perennial, 6"-14" tall forb; slender stems with 3-5 leaf-like bracts
Flower: white, 6-parted, 1/4"- 2/5" wide, beak of lip less than half as long as the body of the flower; flower drawing inflorescence a 3 1/2" dense, cylindrical, spike-like cluster (raceme) of stalked flowers clustered only along one side of the less than 8' tall, sometimes spiraling stalk.; blooms July-Aug.
Leaf:basal, oval to oblong, small, dark bluish-green usually with only white netting
Habitat: dry to moist; woods, forests; in rich soil
