Because of technology changes and personnel changes at UWSP and the Wisconsin State Herbarium, the database of plant species housed at this site was merged with the database from the OLD WisFlora website to create a new Flora of Wisconsin website at Currently we are encouraging all Wisplant viewers to begin using the Flora of Wisconsin website as soon as possible. Status: Endangered
Plant: weakly erect, perennial, 2"-10" tall forb; leafy, hairy stems; from colony forming rhizomes
Flower: white, 5-parted, 1/4"-1/2" wide, petals about 4 times as long as the sepals, sepals lance-like with pointed tips; inflorescence with 1-5 stalked flowers in a branched cluster (cyme); blooms May-Aug.
Fruit:capsule shorter than the sepals, round to oblong with 6 silts opening only to middle when mature; seeds with a small appendage
Leaf:lance-like to elliptic usually with a pointed tip, 3/4"-2" long
Habitat: cliffs
