Plant: erect, perennial, 8"-20" tall shrub
Flower: pink, 5-parted, 1/4" wide, urn-shaped, on backward-curving stalks less than 1/3" long; inflorescence an umbel-shaped cluster at the ends of the stems; blooms May-June
Fruit:roundish capsule
Leaf:alternate, evergreen, leathery, linear, edges rolled downward, whitish beneath when young
Habitat: wet; bogs; in acidic soil
