Status: Threatened
Plant: erect, perennial, 1 1/2'- 2 1/2' tall forb; thick, turnip-like roots; all parts deadly poisonous
Flower: purple to white, 3/4" long, top helmet-shaped; inflorescence usually one branched cluster of a few stalked flowers; blooms July-Aug.
Leaf:wide, palmately-lobed into 5-7 deeply cut segments
Habitat: wet; cool cliffs in shaded forests
