| Rush-like plant without a true flower. Reproduces by spores which lack an embryo. Stems jointed with nodes covered by sheaths made up of more or less united thin, dry leaves, otherwise leafless. Spore cases carried on inner surface of shield-shaped scales in a spike-like terminal cones. | |
