Cyperaceae: Sedge

Grass-like plants with solid stems often triangular in cross section ("sedges have edges") and solid internodes. Leaves 3-ranked with usually closed sheaths and no ligules. Flowers tiny clustered in heads subtended by 1 bract (glume).
