Flower: head 1/3"-3/4" wide with white rays; inflorescence very open, loose, widely-branched, leafy clusters; blooms Aug.-Nov.
Fruit:dry seed
Leaf:lower leaves usually fall off with age; upper stalkless, linear to lance-like
Habitat: full sun; dry; prairies, disturbed sites; in sandy, gravelly soil
