Plant: erect, perennial, less than 2' tall, hairy forb; mostly with rhizomes
Flower: head 1/3"-2/3" wide with white rays; inflorescence of 1 to a few heads clustered at end of stems
Fruit:dry seed
Leaf:many, linear, stalkless, less than 1/4" long
Habitat: full sun; prairies, meadows
Notes: very similar to A. ericoides but smaller and with fewer but larger heads
