Plant: erect, perennial, 12"-40" tall forb; stems round, smooth, arching, bluish
Flower: usually 3-4 cream to yellow rays; inflorescence from the leaf axils in small, short clusters; blooms Aug.-Oct.
Fruit:hairy dry seed on fluffy pappus
Leaf:lance-like, sharply toothed, all mostly the same size, mostly along the stem, tapering to almost stalkless base
Habitat: woods, forests; in rich soil
