Plant: erect, perennial, 16"-40" tall forb mostly hairless except for the rough leaf edges
Flower: head with 10-14 short, yellow rays; inflorescence flat-topped clusters of mostly stalkless heads
Fruit:dry seed on fluffy pappus
Leaf:thick, firm, linear, 1/8" wide, with 1 vein and obvious, glandular dots
Habitat: sunny shores; in sandy soil
