Plant: erect, annual, 12"-32" tall, smooth forb
Flower: head with a brownish to green disk 1/8"-1/3" wide, mostly without rays, 3-5 leafy bracts usually longer than the disk; inflorescence of several small heads; blooms Aug.-Sept.
Fruit:2- bristly awns with short hairs and serrated edgesfruit drawing
Leaf:thin, 3-parted with lance-like, pointed, toothed leaflets on 1/4" - 2 1/3" long stalks
Habitat: wet
