Wisconsin Vascular Plant Database:

In conjunction with other major Wisconsin herbaria such as UW-Madison, UW-Green Bay, and the Milwaukee Public Museum, we are in the process of entering all of our Wisconsin specimens into a statewide database that is accessible to all on the internet.  This information is used in conjunction with other UW's databases to generate distribution maps, accurate morphological and ecological descriptions and provide electronic records of rare and endangered plants for scientific study. A search of the database records is available on our Wisconsin Plants website.

to organize the collection and is collaborating with UW-Madison and Kevin Lyman of the Milwaukee Public Museum on a statewide "Bryophytes of Wisconsin" website.  Bryophyte specimen label information is also being entered into the database.

Ethnobotany of Skunk Hill (Powers Bluff):

The Prairie Band of the Potawatomi Nation has purchased an herbarium case that is stationed in the herbarium. The  case is dedicated to an inventory of the vascular plants of Skunk Hill (Powers Bluff) and their uses by the tribe. Ethnobotanical uses of some of Wisconsin plants can be seen on our Wisconsin Plant website along with a search by use.

Seed Collection:
Our large collection of seed now resides in some recently acquired cabinets.  Seed material is being added daily as the organization system is refined.

Specimen Exchange:
We have an active exchange program with herbaria around the country and the world.  Many student plant collections are used as exchange material.
