Atrichum: In honor of Catherine II, Empress of Russia. Early botanists,reling upon the patronage of royal families to subsidize their work, often named plants in their honor. Catherinea became Atrichum from Greek atrichos for "hairless".
angustatum: Latin word angustus meaning "narrow, small."
